National Kindness Week Terms and Conditions

#STANDTOGETHER NATIONAL KINDNESS WEEK (“Campaign”) AND #STANDTOGETHER KINDNESS COMPETITION (“Contest”) is organized by STAR MEDIA GROUP BERHAD (COMPANY NO.: 197101000523 (10894-D) (“Organiser”)

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN THE CAMPAIGN AND/OR CONTEST AS THEY CONTAIN BINDING LEGAL TERMS AND OBLIGATIONS INCLUDING LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF OUR LIABILITY. BY PARTICIPATING IN THE CAMPAIGN AND/OR CONTEST, YOU ARE DEEMED TO UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN ITS ENTIRETY.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ANY OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU MUST NOT PROCEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CAMPAIGN AND/OR CONTEST.

Terms & Conditions:

1) Campaign is open to students, teachers, and principals from all primary and secondary schools in Malaysia.

2) Participation in the Campaign is on a completely voluntary basis, with the Campaign’s programmes, modules and resources available to the public as open source educational material.

3) To participate in the Campaign, participants will have to register through Unicef’s U-Report platform or Google Form which is available in www.standtogether.my (“Site”) between 17 February 2020 at 7:00am and 20 April 2020 at 7:00pm, and complete the following: –

a) Implement an event, activity, programme or initiative related to kindness (“Kindness Project”) in their schools during National Kindness Week, from 5 April 2020 at 7.00am to 22 June 2020 at 12.00pm.

b) Implement a minimum of three (3) recommended “Kindness Strategies” in their schools.

c) Submit a confirmation letter signed and stamped by the school’s principal confirming the school’s intention to participate in the Campaign and fulfil Clauses 3 (a) and 3 (b) above.

d) Submit a post-Kindness Project report (“Report”) by 23 June 2020 (6.00pm) by using the format prescribed by the Organiser in U-Report platform or Google Form.

3A) Participating students and teachers who complete the tasks as enumerated in Clause 3 above will receive an electronic certificate of participation from the Organiser.

4) As an extension to the Campaign, participating schools can also register for the Contest.

5) Participation in the Contest is through schools only and submissions must be stamped and signed by the respective school’s principal or teacher coordinator.

6) Only schools that are officially registered with the Organiser for the Campaign and conduct the Kindness Project as stated in the Proposal (as hereinafter defined) are eligible to join the Contest.

7) Schools can submit multiple entries for the Contest but each school can only win one (1) cash grant of RM1,000.00 only (“Grant”). Entry must be accompanied by a completed registration form. 

8) Contest’s submission period will commence from 17 February 2020 at 9.00am and end on 20 April 2020 at 11.59pm (“Submission Period”). Project’s implementation period will commence from 5 April 2020 at 6.00am and end on 22 June 2020 at 12.00pm (“Implementation Period”). The final evaluation for the selection of twenty (20) Grant winners, i.e.: ten (10) winners from primary schools and ten (10) winners from secondary schools, will commence from 29 June 2020 at 7.00am and end on 1 July 2020 at 11.59pm.

9) To stand a chance to win the Grant, participating schools shall ensure their students: –

a) Write a proposal for an activity, event or programme to which students would like to execute for the Kindness Project which will start from 17 February 2020 and end on 20 April 2020 (“Proposal”). 

i) Students can work on the Proposal either individually or in a group of not more than ten (10) students.

ii) Students must follow the criteria(s) stated in the” (“Site”)

iii) Principal or teacher coordinators of the participating school are not eligible to participate in the Contest, however they can assist their students in their Contest submissions.

b) Schools are required to submit the students’ Proposal by using the template provided in the Site together with the completed submission forms.

c) Submission form must be complete failing which such submission will not be considered as a valid Contest entry and will automatically be rejected.

d) All submissions must be sent through Unicef’s U-Report system or Google Form which is available on the Site during the Submission Period. Submission sent through other mediums will not be considered as a valid Contest entry and will automatically be rejected by the Organiser.

e) Implement the proposed Kindness Project throughout the Implementation Period.

f) Submit the Report by 23 June 2020 (6.00pm) following the format set by the Organiser through the U-Report platform or Google Forms.

10) Grant winners will be selected based on the following criteria(s): –

a) Reasoning of why it is important for the participating school to conduct the Kindness Project, event or programme as proposed in the Proposal;

b) Clarity of the Kindness Project’s goals and organization of the activity, event or programme proposed;

c) Long-term sustainability of their proposed activity, event or programme; 

d) Ability of their proposed activity, event or programme to make a positive impact on their school environment;

e) Impact of the Campaign as evidenced through the Report.

10A) The principals and/or teacher coordinators of the participating schools warrant that: –

a) they have independent, complete, explicit and uncontroversial copyright of the materials and/or information related to the Kindness Project and/or Proposal, and that the same does not infringe upon the rights of any third party and plagiarize of any third party work. 

b) the Organiser retains all rights to the Kindness Project and/or Proposal and shall be entitled to use all materials and/or information related to Kindness Project and/or the Proposal for free, including but not limited to using the same in network media, print media, printings, exhibitions, road shows, digital content and other marketing activities without further reference and/or payment to the participating schools.

c) all legal liabilities for any disputes arising from a breach of this warranty shall be borne by the principals and/or teacher coordinators absolutely.

11) Notwithstanding anything stated to the contrary herein, the Organiser retains a level of subjectivity in the evaluation of the Contest’s submissions.

12) Twenty (20) winning schools will be awarded a Grant of RM1,000, wherein this Grant must be utilised to continue implementing or improving their Kindness Projects. The winning schools have to submit a budget to the Organiser before the Grant is disbursed to the winning schools. 

13) The Organiser will visit five (5) out of the twenty (20) Grant winning schools together with a celebrity during the National Kindness Week. The celebrities will come from a set of local talents who are also #StandTogether ambassadors. These schools will be responsible for any necessary approvals and arrangements to accommodate the celebrity visit.

14) Additionally, one (1) primary school and one (1) secondary school will be selected from the twenty (20) Grant winning schools to receive the title of “Malaysia’s Kindest Primary/Secondary School” (“Title”) based on the Reports.

15) Title winners will be awarded with additional prizes to be determined at the sole discretion of the Organiser. Details of the additional prizes will be uploaded onto the Site from time to time by the Organiser. 

16) In the event of any prize being unavailable for any reason, the Organiser reserves the right to substitute the prize(s) with any other products of similar value. All prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and non-exchangeable for cash or for any other prizes. All prizes are given on an “As Is, Where Is” basis.

17) Winning schools will be notified via email, phone or U-report platform. If a winning school is not contactable after three (3) attempts, its prize will be automatically forfeited.  

18) All prizes must be claimed by the Persatuan Ibu Bapa Guru or its equivalent of the winning schools (“PIBG”) from the Organiser’s office located at Menara Star, 15, Jalan 16/11, Phileo Damansara II, 46350 Petaling Jaya, Selangor within three (3) months from the date of notification.

19) The Grant will be given either via cheque or bank transfer to the PIBG’s account or winning school’s account. Account details: bank name, registered account name/holder’s name, and account number to be provided to facilitate bank transfer.

20) Grant winners must also attach a bank statement in which transactions are blurred out except for the header, name of bank, account name, and account number. This is to ensure their account is active, valid and the payment will go through.

21) By participating in the Campaign and/or Contest, principals, teacher coordinators and participating schools acknowledge and agree that the Organiser excludes all warranty and/or liability in connection with the awarded prizes, Campaign and/or Contest. Schools shall assume full liability and responsibility in case of any liability, mishap, injury, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) resulting from their students’ participation in the Campaign, Contest, redemption and/or usage of the prizes. The Organiser shall not be held responsible for any liability, mishap, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) in any manner whatsoever suffered by the students as a result of their participation in the Campaign, Contest and/or the use of the prizes.

22) Unless otherwise specified, all ancillary costs are the schools’ responsibility.

23) If the Campaign and/or Contest are interfered with in any way or are not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser, in such event the Organiser reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Campaign and/or Contest, as appropriate, without prior notice.

24) The Organiser reserves the right to amend any of these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice and the amended terms and conditions will be uploaded onto the Site. The principals, teacher coordinators and students of participating schools are therefore encouraged to visit the Site from time to time to view any amendments and/or changes to the terms and conditions.

25) In view of the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, the principals and teacher coordinators of participating schools hereby expressly grant the Organiser and its affiliates the permission to use and process their personal data including (but not limited to) names, contact information and/or photographs (collectively, “Personal Data”) for future advertising and publicity purposes. The principals and teacher coordinators of participating schools further agree to receive the latest information about products, news and events updates, rewards and promotions, special privileges and initiatives from the Organizer and its affiliates. 26) Principals and teacher coordinators are encouraged to view the full Privacy Policy of the Organiser at https://www.thestar.com.my/Privacy.

27) All entry instructions and any other specific details relating to the Campaign, Contest and prizes not specified herein shall form part of these Terms and Conditions.

28) The Organiser’s decisions are final and there shall be no appeal entertained and/or allowed. All participants shall not resort to court proceedings to review the Organiser’s decisions.

Kindness Workshops Terms and Conditions

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN THE WORKSHOP AND/OR FELLOWSHIP, AS THE CASE MAYBE, AS THEY CONTAIN BINDING LEGAL TERMS AND OBLIGATIONS INCLUDING LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF OUR LIABILITY. BY PARTICIPATING IN THE WORKSHOP AND/OR FELLOWSHIP, AS THE CASE MAYBE, YOU ARE DEEMED TO UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Terms & Conditions:

1. The Organiser will be organising the Workshop in at least ten (10) locations across the country. All secondary schools in Malaysia may volunteer to send students and teachers to participate in the Workshop.

2. Schools that wish to participate must send at least three (3) students and one (1) teacher for the Workshop, but no more than six (6) students and two (2) teachers.

3.To register for a Workshop, the school must submit an email request to the Organiser at kindness@studyhub.asia. These requests must be sent to the Organiser at least ten (10) working days before the date of the preferred Workshop in order to be considered.

4. The dates and locations of each Workshop will be uploaded and updated on the Organiser’s website, more commonly known as “standtogether.my” (“Site”). Those who wish to register for the Workshop should therefore visit the Site from time to time for updated information.

5. Selected schools must endeavour to appoint willing students and teachers to attend the Workshop. The schools must also obtain consent from the parents and/or guardians of all students appointed to attend the Workshop and/or Fellowship, as the case maybe.

6. Participants’ transport to the Workshop venues must be fully arranged by their respective schools. The schools may submit an email request to the Organiser for a travel subsidy, the amount of which will be determined by the Organiser, and awarded to schools at the complete discretion of the Organiser.

7. During the Workshop, participants will be given online assignments. Participants who complete their assignments and submit them before 4 September 2020 at 11:59pm may receive an e-certificate (“Deadline”).

8. Further to the Workshops, participants may also volunteer to join the Fellowship, an online peer support network consisting of other participants of the Fellowship (“Fellows”) from all participants of the Workshop. Participants may be required to share personal contact information to join the Fellowship.

9. By participating in this Workshop and Fellowship, participants acknowledge and agree that participants shall assume full liability and responsibility in case of any liability, mishap, injury, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) resulting from their participation in the Workshop, subsequent assignments, and the Fellowship.

10. Unless otherwise specified, all ancillary costs are the participants’ responsibility.

11. If any of the Workshop and/or Fellowship is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser, in such event the Organiser reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel any and/or all the Workshop and Fellowship, as appropriate, without prior notice.

12. The Organiser reserves the right to amend any of these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice and the amended terms and conditions will be uploaded onto the Site. participants are therefore encouraged to visit the Site from time to time to view any amendments and/or changes to the terms and conditions.

13. Kindness Challenge Terms and Conditions

KINDNESS CHALLENGE (“Challenge”) is organised by STAR MEDIA GROUP BERHAD (Company No.: 197101000523 (10894-D) (“Organiser”)

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN THE CHALLENGE AS THEY CONTAIN BINDING LEGAL TERMS AND OBLIGATIONS INCLUDING LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF OUR LIABILITY. BY PARTICIPATING IN THE CHALLENGE, YOU ARE DEEMED TO UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN ITS ENTIRETY.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ANY OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU MUST NOT PROCEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHALLENGE.

 

Terms & Conditions:

1. This Challenge is open to all individuals residing in Malaysia.

2. Participation in the Challenge is on a completely voluntary basis.

3. Participants have to register for the Challenge through Unicef’s U-Report platform (“U-Report”) via WhatsApp (+60168001919) or Facebook Messenger (www.facebook.com/UReportMalaysia) between 17 February 2020 at 8:00am and 20 April 2020 at 11:59pm (“Registration Period”). The U-Report WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger registration for the Challenge may be launched via a link on the Organiser’s website, more commonly known as “standtogether.my” (“Site”).

4. The Challenge involves five mystery kindness missions (“Missions”) which will be revealed one-by-one to the participant over five days via U-Report.

5. Upon registration, the participant may start the Challenge at any time between 5 April 2020 at 7:00am and 20 April at 2:00pm, and all Kindness Missions should be completed by 25 April at 1:00pm (“Competition Period”).

6. Participants will be considered to have completed the Challenge if they confirm completion of all five (5) Missions by sending a specific completion message for each Mission to the U-Report platform within 24 hours of receiving the Challeng

7. Participants who fail to send any of the completion messages will not receive the next Mission. Participants may attempt to complete the Missions as many times as they’d like during the Competition Period.

8. Participants can only take part in the Challenge through U-Report, via WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Any Challenge submissions through other mediums/methods will not be considered as a valid Challenge entry and will automatically be rejected by the Organiser.

9. By participating in this Challenge, participants acknowledge and agree that the Organiser excludes all warranty and/or liability in connection with the Challenge. Participants shall assume full liability and responsibility in case of any liability, mishap, injury, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) resulting from their participation in the Challenge. The Organiser shall not be held responsible for any liability, mishap, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) in any manner whatsoever suffered by the students as a result of their participation in the Challenge.

Kindest Awards Terms and Conditions

#STANDTOGETHER KINDEST AWARDS (“Awards”) is organized by STAR MEDIA GROUP BERHAD (Company No.: 197101000523 (10894-D) (“Organiser”)

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN THE AWARDS AS THEY CONTAIN BINDING LEGAL TERMS AND OBLIGATIONS INCLUDING LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF OUR LIABILITY. BY PARTICIPATING IN THE AWARDS, YOU ARE DEEMED TO UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN ITS ENTIRETY.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ANY OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU MUST NOT PROCEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE AWARDS.

 

Terms & Conditions:

1. The Awards will be given to one (1) winner each in the following five (5) categories:

a) Kindest Student

b) Kindest Teacher

c) Kindest Principal

d) Kindest School Counselor

e) Kindest School Staff

 2. Participation in the Awards is only through nomination by a third party using the U-Report platform, the link which can be found on the Organiser’s website, more commonly known as “standtogether.my” (“Site”).

3. Individuals may nominate any teachers, student, counselor, school staff member, or principal in Malaysia for the Awards save and except for immediate family members (defined as parents, siblings, children or domestic partners, regardless of where they live) of the employees of the Organiser, or the Awards’ sponsor or campaign partners, i.e.: “SP Setia Berhad”, “Ministry of Education”, and “Unicef Malaysia”.

 

4. Individuals who have submitted nominations may be required to procure the written consent of their respective nominee(s) in the format as prescribed by the Organiser in the event the respective nominee(s) is/are selected as a finalist(s) for the Awards. Should a nominee decline to provide his/her consent, the nominee will not be considered for the Awards.

 

5. Each individual can nominate up to five (5) nominations.

6. In order to qualify for the Awards, nominee must fulfil one (1) of the following criteria:

a) Is a student currently enrolled in a primary or secondary school in Malaysia;

b) Is a teacher currently employed in a primary or secondary school in Malaysia;

c) Is a principal currently employed in a primary or secondary school in Malaysia;

d) Is a school counselor or staff member who currently takes on the responsibilities of a counselor in a primary or secondary school in Malaysia; or

e) Is a staff member of a primary or secondary school in Malaysia employed in a non-academic role (e.g. janitorial staff, canteen operators/staff or administrative staff).  

7. Award nominations will commence from 17 February 2020 at 9:00am and end on 20 April 2019 at 11.59pm (“Nomination Period”). The final evaluation to facilitate the selection of the five (5) Awards winners will commence from 1 May 2020 at 7:00am and end on 18 May 2020 at 11.59pm (“Judging Period”).

8. Shortlisted nominees will be contacted by the Organiser to provide consent to be considered for the Awards by signing a consent form. Minors under the age of 18  must seek the consent of their parents or legal guardians to be considered for the Awards.

9. Award winners will be announced at a time and place to be determined by the Organiser.

10. Individuals are not allowed to nominate themselves for the Awards. Nominees who are found to have nominated themselves will be automatically disqualified.

11. Nominations must be completed during the Nomination Period via the U-Report platform. Late or incomplete nominations will not be considered as a valid Awards entry and will automatically be rejected by the Organiser.

12. Nominations submitted through other mediums/methods will not be considered as a valid Awards entry and will automatically be rejected by the Organizer.

13. Shortlisted Awards nominees will be judged based on the following criteria:-

a) Have positively contributed to making the school environment more kind, inclusive and safe;

b) Have exhibited exceptionally kind or empathetic behavior towards others in their school or community;

c) Have shown an ability to be kind to all others regardless of social class, ability, ethnicity, religion, or any other social factors;

d) Have a significant number of testimonies from nominators that demonstrate consistent kind behavior;

Notwithstanding anything stated to the contrary herein, the Organiser retains a level of subjectivity in the evaluation of the Awards nominations.

 14. The Organizer may contact or visit the schools of shortlisted nominees to conduct interviews and video shoots with the nominee. Nominees who decline to participate in these interviews and video shoots will not be considered for the Awards.

15. The Award winners in each of the five (5) categories will be chosen by a panel of judges and be awarded with a trophy, certificate or similar token (“Prize”). Details of additional prizes (if any) will be uploaded onto the Site from time to time.

16. In the event of any Prize being unavailable for any reason, the Organiser reserves the right to substitute the same with any other products of similar value. All Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and non-exchangeable for cash or for any other prizes. All Prizes are given on an “As Is, Where Is” basis.

17. Winners will be contacted and notified via email, phone or U-report platform. If a winner is not contactable after three (3) attempts, his/her Prize will be automatically forfeited. 

18. The awarded Prize must be claimed by the winner or an authorized representative of the winning school from the Organiser’s office located at Menara Star, 15, Jalan 16/11, Phileo Damansara II, 46350 Petaling Jaya, Selangor within three (3) months from the date of notification.

19. By participating in this Awards, the principals and teacher coordinators of the nominees’ schools and the nominating individuals acknowledge and agree that the Organiser excludes all warranty and/or liability in connection with the Prizes and/or the Awards. Schools shall assume full liability and responsibility in case of any liability, mishap, injury, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) resulting from their students’, teachers’, principals’, counselors’, or school staff’s participation in the Awards, redemption and/or usage of the Prizes. The Organiser shall not be held responsible for any liability, mishap, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) in any manner whatsoever suffered by any individuals as a result of their participation in the Awards and/or the use of the Prizes.

20. Unless otherwise specified, all ancillary costs are the school’s and nominating individual’s responsibility.

21. If this Awards is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser, in such event the Organiser reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Awards, as appropriate, without prior notice. 

22. The Organiser reserves the right to amend any of these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice and the amended terms and conditions will be uploaded onto the Site. The principals, teacher coordinators and students of participating schools are therefore encouraged to visit the Site from time to time to view any amendments and/or changes to the terms and conditions. 

23. In view of the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, the principals, school staff and teacher coordinators of participating schools hereby expressly grant the Organiser and its affiliates the permission to use and process their personal data including (but not limited to) names, contact information and/or photographs (collectively, “Personal Data”) for future advertising and publicity purposes. The principals, school staff and teacher coordinators of participating schools further agree to receive the latest information about products, news and events updates, rewards and promotions, special privileges and initiatives from the Organizer and its affiliates. If they do not wish to receive the above information, please email the Organizer at alltherage@thestar.com.my.

24. All entry instructions and any other specific details relating to the Awards and/or the prizes not specified herein shall form part of these Terms and Conditions. 

25. The Organiser’s decisions are final and there shall be no appeal entertained and/or allowed. All participants shall not resort to court proceedings to review the Organiser’s decisions.
